March 3, 2013 ACSA Competition Obedience trial
Emma earned her first two legs in Utility
with a 190-1/2 and a first
place
and a 194-1/2 and a first place.
Utility skills:
Signal exercise - consists of a heeling pattern (no talking), a
moving stand, a down, sit and come - all no talking - hand signals only
Scent discrimination - two times - once with a metal article that
has my scent on it and it's put into a pile of leather and other metal
articles with the stewards scent on them. The dog has to pick the one
that I touched. It is then repeated with the leather article
Directed retrieve - handler faces away from the 3 gloves and the
judge tells you which one to pivot to to retrieve
moving stand and exam, then a call to heel
5) directed jumping - dog goes out to the gate and on your cue jumps
the jump the judge tells you to direct your dog to. Then you repeat it
with the other jump.

2010
December 12, 2010 Emma finished her CDX today (and got a bumper - extra) leg.
Yesterday - 2nd leg was a 188-1/2 and a 2nd place!
This morning - 3rd leg and title was a 194 and 1st place!
This afternoon - 4th leg was a 196-1/2 and a 1st place!
She was poised and in control and did a great job and I am very proud
of her. See the videos!
October 24, 2010
Shadow earned his TD! It has taken us a long while to even think about
entering a tracking test - not because of him, but because of me.
Shads was perfect his first time out!

Shadow took his certification test for
Tracking and passed! Yippee! He was ready a year ago - I wasn't...
September 17, 2010
Emma finished up her AKC CD! First leg (do I have to tell her score?)
Second leg was a 197 and 1st place
Third leg was a less than stellar 184 and a 3rd place. I don't
normally try to make excuses but there must have been something in the
ring overnight because all of the dogs were sniffing wildly.

March 13, 2010 Miss Emma now has an extra CD leg with a 195 and 2nd place! (even with a 3 point deduction for a "no sit")!
2009
December 13, 2009 Beau got his 2nd UD leg with a 186-1/2 and a first place! Not as great as the 195 he got on his first leg, but most certainly better than a 170!
Emma finished up her CD today with a 193 and a first place. Had she not given me 2 no sits, she would have had a 199! Also not as great as the 198 she NQd on yesterday, but as before, better than a 170!
Rally trial at PMDT October 31 and Nov 1, 2009
Emma had some really nice runs this week at my rally trial.
I am exhausted, however, she is still raring to go!
11/1/09 Level 1B, 208
11/1/09 Level 2B, 210, 1st place
11/1/09 Level 3A, 210, 1st place and new Level 3 title!
July 11, 2009 Miss Emma is now a 2-legged dog! She debuted in competition obedience this weekend in Novice. Her scores weren't stellar - a 193 and a 192 (although I was clearly robbed because she was fantastic and deserved a 197) but did get a 4th place.
One more leg to go!

ASCA trial (competition obedience)
Mr. Beau got his first utility leg today with a 195 and a 1st place!!! I was quite proud – he handled himself like a pro and really thought about each exercise. I loved watching him really work through the scent articles! The points off were just for some crooked sits – no big deal! Only 2 more legs to go to finish up his UD!!!
2008
October 18, 2008
I wasn’t all that thrilled
today – scores a little down from last week and crappy
placements, BUT we did have 12 runs again, 11 Q’s, 1
NQ again because Emma didn’t stay on the recall, and
7 placements. Okay, I guess it wasn’t that shabby
We are all very exhausted and I won’t do that again – trial
2 weekends in a row with the dogs in 4 times each – too
stressful and I did see a bit of burnout with Beau. Emma and
Shadow were still raring to go!

first place and a score of 206! She also got her first leg

9/22/07 Emma debuted in Rally today and I was tickled with
her behavior in the ring!Morning trial: Level 1 A, with a

trail: Level 1 A, with a score of 207 and 1st place and high
scoring rescue dog again!
7/22/07 Emma got her CGC today! A really big deal since I
entered her on a whim and to be honest, never trained her
for it! She passed with flying colors! "Oh me of little
faith!"
2007 - Beau
12/8/07 and 12/9/07 Mr. Beau finished up his CDX! Yahoo! He

8/26/07 Beau: Finished up his Level 3 title with a 210 and 1st place.
He didn't get a QQ today toward his ARCHX - he messed up in level
2 (for a change, it really wasn't my fault), but got a 210 in level
1 with a first place!
Going for his ARCHX: 1st double Q – level
1 with a score of 209, 4th place, level 2 with a score of 199, 2nd
double Q – level 1 with a 204, level 2 with a 209, 3rd place

8/26/07 Rally trial at Port Chester! Shadow: working toward his
ARCHX, he completed his third QQ today with a 209 and 2nd place

of a measly .15 of a second over time. But we

all about anyway!

Rally O' Trial at Y2K9's
in Wyndmoor, PA Sunday,December 7, 2003 Shadow,
finished up his Rally 1 title with a Magna Cum
Laude and a score of 191. The best part of his
run was that I didn't need to have anyone "protect" us
from the crowd because Shadow and I were feeling
very confident!
December 5, 2003 We had
an interesting experience. I was grooming dogs in
the basement and had locked the dogs in the bedroom.
Once I was done grooming, I stayed downstairs to clean
up and Lynn took her dogs upstairs to take them out
to her car. I come upstairs and low and behold, all
3 of my boys are in the kitchen! I put them outside
in the back yard. Lynn came back in the house and
I asked her if my dogs were out of the bedroom when
she came up. They were! I asked her if Shadow did
anything and she said she wasn't sure which border
collie was Shadow but in any case, none of the dogs
approached her!!!!!!
September 20, 2003 Pam's
Border Collie Shadow acted like a completely normal
dog when 10 guests came to visit. This was his very
first time "out and about" when I had
company over!
October 4, 2003 Pam's Border
Collie Shadow went to his first ever match show where
he did every exercise - INCLUDING THE STAND FOR EXAM!
HE WAS BRILLIANT! And we were both calm!
On June 14, 2003 Shadow
got wicketed (measured) at an agility trial!!! After
a week and a half of desensitizing him to being on
the table with familiar and new people measuring him,
he handled it like a pro. I was a basket case as the
judge (even though I told her that Shadow is afraid
of people) PET HIM ON THE HEAD AND LOWERED HER FACE
TO HIS! Shadow on the other hand was completely and
utterly calm!
We ran in JWW (Jumpers with
weaves) in ankle deep mud and while we did not qualify
for our agility run (handler error again...) he
was super dooper and as always, did exactly what
I told him to do. One of these years I'll get my
handling skills to work...<grin>
Shadow went from being a very
aggressive (rescued) dog to an almost normal dog in
16 months! Earned his CGC Title!!!
Shadow was in a Rally-O match
on March 23, 2002! I
was a nervious wreck but he was GREAT!
Took him to his first
ever trial on April 20, 2002 and he was great. We
entered in Rally and while he didn't place he was
amazingly calm and did quite well!
April 5, 2003 APDT Rally-O in
Wyndmoor, PA First Trial My Border Collies,
Beau and SHADOW(!) tied for 1st place and SHADOW
WON THE RUN-OFFand was first place over 70 other
dogs.

and won third place

April 5, 2003 APDT Rally-O in

190 (which was a huge gift from the judge - he was
too).

1st Placements both times! Who
says you can't teach an old dog new tricks!
