Positive Motivation Dog Training PRESENTS!
The Human Half of Dog Training: Building Skills to Enhance Your Training Effectiveness
with Dr. Rise VanFleet, Ph.D., RPT-S, CDBC

Dr. Rise VanFleet, Ph.D.Description:
Even the best dog training or behavior consultation can have little effect if the owners don't buy in or follow through. One of the most challenging aspects of dog training involves engaging the human half of the equation in a way that the owners are willing to practice what you suggest and follow through into the future as they build healthier relationships with their dogs. This workshop is designed to help trainers develop collaborative relationships with their human clients, with the goal of full involvement in the dog training/consultation process now and in the future. The workshop focus is on ways to approach clients to engage them fully, skills for providing information that they are likely to hear and use, ways of interacting that help them follow through on training tasks to reach training goals successfully, and solving problems that are common with people, both individually and in classes.

The workshop involves information about working effectively with people, live demonstrations of the skills for doing so, and small group practice with feedback to enhance participants' skills in a fun and lively environment. The methods covered are practical and effective, used for years by the presenter in working with children and families as well as with dog training and behavior clients.
