Part 2: 1 pm to 4:30 pm

Part 1 Description:
Introduction to Treibball Workshop:
Part 1: Urban Soccer for Dogs!

Treibball is a new sport started in Germany that incorporates distance skills and challenges. The game is played on a field with a soccer goal and a number of exercises balls from 15’ 35’ away from the goal. The handler sends the dog out past the balls and then releases the dog to push the balls, 1 at a time into the goal. When the dog has put all the balls into the goal, time stops. The game has different levels with changes in distance of balls and number of balls. There are many skills used in this game including distance control/handling, speed, accuracy, communication and teamwork.

Who Should Attend?: Anyone interested in participating in learning how to play the sport for fun or competition!

Basic Skills for attendees: dogs should have some basic skills including a recall, sit & down. More than one team will be working on the floor, so dog friendly dogs only please. Auditor positions are available for those with reactive dogs.

Webinar: Setting Up Your Own Aggressive Dog Classes
With Pamela Dennison

Lately trainers running aggressive dog classes seem to be on the rise. This is good and bad. Good because people who own aggressive dogs have more options for working with their dogs than ever before. Bad because it means that aggression in dogs is on the rise. Good because more people are preferring to work with their dogs, rather than opting to euthanize, and bad because so many trainers who run classes are not qualified to do so, and often end up making the dog worse.

This webinar will discuss the how’s and why’s of working safely with aggressive dogs in either a group or private setting.

A few of the points that will be discussed:

  • Knowledge of the process
  • Sensitivity
  • Knowledge of canine body language
  • Location, location, location
  • A Team of Neutral Dogs
  • A Plan
  • Before the first private
  • Will you do a phone consult?
  • Will you do an in person consult?
  • Pros and cons of each
  • At what point do you meet the dog?
  • Do you handle the dog?
  • Protocols
  • Behaviors to teach
  • Developing intuition
  • And more!"

Webinar: Animal Husbandry to help create a bomb proof dog
With Pamela Dennison

Routine medical examinations are essential to the health of all our animals. Animal training techniques help veterinarians, animal care specialists and trainers perform medical examinations more easily, and with less stress for the animals.

Teaching husbandry in your pet classes will teach those dogs to become comfortable with handling and help create an unshakeable dog. This becomes “added value” to your classes and makes you so much more than just “one of the crowd.”

In addition, breed handling, which has some valuable benefits for all dogs will also be shown and addressed.

"There seem to be many articles available on how to find a reputable breeder, but how does one find a respectable rescue group? Just like there are negligent breeders, so there are negligent rescue groups.

What are the questions to ask and red flags to look for when searching for your new best friend will be addressed, so that you don't "buy in haste, repent at leisure."
